Leading the signing ceremony between Megaworld and Accor were Lourdes Gutierrez-Alfonso, President and Chief Executive Officer, Megaworld (seated) and Andrew Langdon, Chief Development Officer, Asia, Accor (seated). Joining them were Cleofe Albiso, Managing Director, Megaworld Hotels & Resorts, and Chris Cho, Vice President for Development – Japan, South Korea, Maldives, Philippines, and Singapore, Accor.

Global hospitality group Accor is further strengthening its presence in the Philippines through a strategic partnership with property giant Megaworld, marking a significant collaboration in the country’s growing hotel landscape.

Under the partnership, select Megaworld Hotels & Resorts properties will transition to Accor’s global brands, starting with the rebranding of Belmont Hotel Mactan into Mercure Mactan Cebu. Set to open this year, the property is located at Mactan Newtown township in Lapu-Lapu City and will carry the Marcure brand, one of over 40 in Accor’s international portfolio.

Accor, which operates over 5,600 hotels and resorts across 110 countries, is known for its diverse hospitality brands including Sofitel, Fairmont, Raffles, Swissotel, Mövenpick, Pullman, and Mercure. Under the new partnership, Accor will extend its operational expertise, guest service standards, and reservation systems to Megaworld’s select properties.

The collaboration also opens the doors for these hotels to be integrated into Accor’s global loyalty program, ALL – Accor Live Limitless, enabling guests to earn points and enjoy exclusive benefits when booking at the participating properties.

“We are honored to collaborate with a top-notch hospitality group like Accor, which has established global industry leadership,” said Cleofe Albiso, Managing Director of Megaworld Hotels & Resorts. “With Mercure Mactan Cebu, we aim to redefine Cebu’s tourism landscape by combining our group’s local expertise with Accor’s global leadership in hospitality.”

The move comes as Accor continues to accelerate the growth of its Premium, Midscale & Economy (PM&E) division across Asia.

“The Philippines remains a vital market for us,” said Andrew Langdon, Chief Development Officer, Asia, Accor. “The signing of Mercure Mactan Cebu is aligned with our ambition to meet growing demand for hotels catering to both leisure and business travellers, especially with the rise of bleisure travel.”

Currently, Megaworld Hotels & Resorts operates 13 hotel properties with about 7,000 rooms in key tourism hubs such as Metro Manila, Tagaytay, Cebu, and Boracay. The group plans to expand its portfolio to 20 hotels with 9,000 rooms over the next three years, with new properties slated to open in Palawan, Pampanga, Bacolod, and Iloilo.
