Cebu is stepping onto the global stage not only as a premier tourism hub but also as a rising center for high-value investments and branded residences, with new international recognition underscoring its momentum.

Earlier this year, the Michelin Guide expanded its Philippine hotel selection to 20 properties, recognizing hotels and resorts for their design, service, and guest experience. Among those honored was Sheraton Cebu Mactan Resort, owned and developed by Cebu-based AppleOne Group. The recognition positions Mactan as more than a gateway destination, reaffirming its standing as a contender for world-class luxury living.

Sheraton Cebu Mactan integrates global hospitality standards with Cebu’s natural and cultural identity. The resort preserves the limestone boulders found on-site, incorporates local wood and woven textures into its interiors, and highlights Cebuano artisans and local suppliers in its dining and retail offerings. Its culinary portfolio includes Buhi Bar, 5 Cien, and Dip, reflecting both local roots and international influences.

“Being included in the Michelin Guide shows how Cebu is setting new benchmarks for luxury hospitality. All of us at Sheraton Cebu Mactan are proud to help put Mactan Island on the global stage by offering experiences that are rooted in place yet world-class in execution,” said Dottie Wurgler-Cronin, General Manager, Sheraton Cebu Mactan Resort.

The recognition aligns with the global rise of branded residences, which according to Global Branded Residences (GBR), command a 30–40% premium over non-branded properties and are projected to grow by 70% worldwide in the next five years.

The Philippines is seeing similar momentum, with Cebu identified as a key growth driver. The 2026 Philippine Hotel Industry Outlook by Leechiu Properties cites the island as one of the country’s strongest markets for both tourism and real estate, fueled by resilient domestic demand and rising international arrivals, particularly from East Asia and the United States.

At the center of this convergence is The Residences at Sheraton Cebu Mactan, where homeowners gain exclusive access to resort-style amenities while benefitting from the prestige of the Sheraton brand. The development reflects the growing demand for properties that combine lifestyle and long-term value.

“The growing demand for branded residences reflects a shift in how people invest. They want both lifestyle and long-term value. With Cebu’s rise as a luxury hub, The Residences at Sheraton Cebu Mactan offers that rare balance,” said Leif Bajarias, Chief Financial Officer, AppleOne Group.

With global recognition, market confidence, and strong investor demand converging, Cebu is shaping a benchmark for luxury hospitality and living — positioning itself as one of the Philippines’ most compelling growth stories.
