MANILA, Philippines — Senshin Hospitality Group has opened Gyudonya at Mitsukoshi BGC, introducing what it describes as the Philippines’ first restaurant dedicated exclusively to Japanese beef bowls.

Inspired by Japan’s culture of culinary specialization, Gyudonya focuses on Japanese beef prepared through a variety of techniques, including traditional gyudon, steak bowls, hayashi, and sizzling stonepots. The concept highlights premium ingredients such as wagyu, ikura, and truffle while aiming to make them more accessible for everyday dining.

The restaurant’s menu was developed by Senshin Hospitality Group Founder and CEO Richard Sanz together with Chef Francis Lim. Signature dishes include the 12-hour Wagyu Beef Hayashi, patiently braised to develop rich, comforting flavors; and, the Nori Butter Pasta that is served with  freshly made ramen noodles.

Wagyu steak bowl, steak box set, slow-simmered gyudons, and selection of beef cuts are served over rice or fried rice as well.

Gyudonya also introduces its “Know Your Beef” concept, allowing diners to explore different cuts—including Karubi, Tenderloin, Sirloin, and Ribeye—and understand the characteristics of each.

“We wanted to create a restaurant where premium beef, thoughtful preparation, and great value come together in every bowl,” said Richard Sanz, founder and CEO of Senshin Hospitality Group.

Designed with an industrial Japanese aesthetic, the restaurant features bold red and black interiors accented by wood finishes and a “Beef-First Theater” that emphasizes its focus on Japanese beef craftsmanship.

“For us, great dining is about more than great food. It’s about creating a space where people feel comfortable, enjoy meaningful moments together, and leave looking forward to their next visit,” said Maxine Sanz, co-founder and chief marketing officer of Senshin Hospitality Group.

Gyudonya is the latest concept from Senshin Hospitality Group, which has operated Japanese dining concepts for more than two decades. The company said the new restaurant reflects its continued focus on chef-driven concepts centered on craftsmanship and approachable dining.

Gyudonya opens this August at Mitsukoshi BGC in Taguig City.
