MANILA, July 2026 – SM Hotels and Conventions Corporation (SMHCC) has named hospitality veteran Sven Toune as the new General Manager of Taal Vista Hotel, entrusting the seasoned hotelier with leading one of the country’s most iconic heritage hotels into its next phase of growth.
Toune brings more than two decades of international hospitality experience, having held senior leadership positions across luxury resorts and globally recognized hotel brands in Southeast Asia. Over the past 10 years in the Philippines, he has established a strong reputation in hotel operations, commercial strategy, and people-focused leadership.
Prior to his appointment, Toune served as General Manager of Park Inn by Radisson Davao, the first Park Inn by Radisson property in the Philippines under SMHCC. During his tenure, he strengthened the hotel’s market position, enhanced guest satisfaction, and fostered meaningful partnerships with local communities and industry stakeholders.
A Belgian national, Toune is fluent in Dutch, French, German, English, and Filipino, with conversational proficiency in Bisaya—an advantage that has enabled him to build strong relationships with guests, associates, and business partners across diverse cultures.
“I am honored to join Taal Vista Hotel and become part of a team with such a strong reputation for hospitality excellence,” said Toune. “Taal Vista Hotel is a beloved landmark with a rich heritage and a unique place in the hearts of many travelers. I look forward to working closely with our talented team to build on the hotel’s success, elevate the guest experience, and create meaningful opportunities for innovation, professional development, and sustainable growth.”
A Food and Beverage professional by training, Toune is recognized for developing high-performing teams and cultivating workplace cultures anchored on accountability, innovation, continuous learning, and respect. His leadership philosophy aligns with Taal Vista Hotel’s long-standing commitment to delivering authentic Filipino hospitality and memorable guest experiences.
According to SMHCC Executive Vice President Peggy Angeles, Toune’s appointment reinforces the company’s vision for the historic property.
“Sven’s appointment marks an important step in strengthening Taal Vista Hotel’s position as a premier heritage destination,” Angeles said. “His expertise and strategic vision will be instrumental in accelerating growth across the MICE and leisure travel segments, forging meaningful partnerships, and elevating the exceptional guest experiences that define our brand.”
Toune assumes leadership of the 262-room Taal Vista Hotel at a pivotal time as the property continues to enhance its offerings, deepen guest engagement, and reinforce its position as one of the Philippines’ most enduring hospitality landmarks.
His appointment likewise reflects SMHCC’s continuing investment in leadership excellence as it strengthens its portfolio of hotels and convention properties to meet the evolving demands of both leisure and business travelers.
