Accor is preparing for a series of hotels it will open in the Philippines between 2015 and 2019, and leading the lineup of new brands to be introduced is Mercure.
Mercure is an upscale hotel brand present in 53 countries through 707 operating hotels. Three Mercure properties will open between 2015 and 2016, including one in Dumaguete City.
Accor’s entry in the Negros Island city through the 150-room Mercure Dumaguete Resort is expected to increase the destination’s visibility in the international tourism market.
The hotel group will launch 150-room Mercure Manila Ortigas next year and 350-room Mercure Manila Ermita and the Dumaguete property in 2016, according to information confirmed by Accor.
“Our development strategy is to expand into the country’s capital and main cities first, before extending our reach into leisure and secondary destinations. It is also important that for each country, we have inspirational hotels for each of the brands we offer to be able to showcase them to potential investors,” Patrick Basset, COO for Accor Thailand, Vietnam, South Korea, Camboadia, Laos, Myanmar, and the Philippines, told Hospitality News in a report published in September.
Accor is set to open other properties in the Philippines, namely Novotel Manila Araneta (2015), MGallery Manila (2017), and Novotel Suites Manila at Acqua (2019).
