After announcing the entry of the Westin brand in Ortigas this year, Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, Inc. today said it will open a new build 250-room hotel and 182-unit residences under the Sheraton brand in Cebu City in 2019 and 2020, respectively.
The property, Sheraton Mactan Resort, leverages on “increasing local demand” and “first mover advantage in the region,” said Starwood in a news release. The resort is owned by AppleOne Mactan, Inc., a subsidiary of AppleOne Properties Inc.
“Starwood continues to build on its long-standing owner and developer relationships in the region as we expand our strong and growing footprint,” said Charlie Dang, regional vice president, Southeast Asia, Starwood Hotels & Resorts Asia Pacific. “Given the flourishing Filipino economy, we are confident that Sheraton Mactan Resort will resonate with travelers and potential homeowners alike with its idyllic location and best-in-class offerings.”
Starwood has no operating property in the Philippines, but it has four pipeline hotels so far: The Westin Bayshore City Manila (2018), Sheraton Manila Hotel (2018), The Westin Manila Sonata Place (2019), and Sheraton Mactan Resort (2019).
A beachfront property, Sheraton Mactan Resort will feature a 1,313-square meter function space for meetings, weddings, and events. Other facilities include Sheraton’s signature spa, three restaurants, “enhanced” lobby lounge, swimming pool, and fitness center.
Meanwhile, The Residences at Sheraton Mactan Resort will consist of one to three partially furnished bedroom apartments.
