MANILA, June 11, 2026 — Megaworld Hotels & Resorts (MHR) is strengthening Iloilo City’s position as a leading meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions (MICE) destination with the opening of Belmont Hotel Iloilo, a 405-room property that is now the largest hotel in the city.
Officially launching on June 24, Belmont Hotel Iloilo is the third Megaworld Hotels & Resorts property within the Iloilo Business Park township and the 16th hotel in the company’s growing portfolio.
Speaking during a media launch at Kingsford Hotel Manila, MHR Managing Director Cleofe Albiso said the opening reflects Megaworld’s long-standing commitment to regional tourism development and nation-building.
“Opening a hotel in regional destinations like Iloilo really makes us proud of the company we work for,” Albiso said. “Under the vision of our chairman, Andrew Tan, Megaworld has continuously invested in regional destinations, creating jobs, supporting communities, and helping tourism become a major contributor to the Philippine economy.”

The addition of Belmont Hotel Iloilo further expands accommodation capacity within Iloilo Business Park, where Richmonde Hotel Iloilo and Courtyard by Marriott Iloilo are also located. Positioned near the Iloilo Convention Center, the new property is expected to play a significant role in attracting larger conferences, exhibitions, and corporate events to the city.
“We now add Belmont Hotel Iloilo, which will increase the capacity not just of the township but of Iloilo City itself to host bigger MICE business,” Albiso said.
Iloilo has steadily built a reputation as one of the country’s most dynamic regional destinations, supported by its recognition as a UNESCO Creative City of Gastronomy and its growing appeal among both leisure and business travelers.
Albiso noted that industry stakeholders have worked together through various initiatives, including the Visit Iloilo campaign, to strengthen the city’s tourism brand beyond individual businesses and organizations.
“We’ve been trying to gather stakeholders to rally behind the city and strengthen the positioning of Iloilo as a destination,” she said. “A lot of stakeholders have contributed significantly to the MICE and tourism efforts of the city.”
The hotel’s General Manager, Joy Alonte, highlighted Belmont Hotel Iloilo’s role in addressing the increasing demand for quality accommodations in the city.
With 405 guestrooms that offer 25 to 48 square meters, the property becomes the largest hotel in Iloilo and contributes to Megaworld Hotels & Resorts’ growing presence in the destination. According to Alonte, the company’s portfolio now accounts for approximately 25 percent of the city’s hotel room inventory.
Designed as a four-star hotel with an accessible mid-market positioning, Belmont Hotel Iloilo caters to business travelers, event delegates, families, and leisure guests seeking quality accommodations at practical price points.
The property features the Northern Islands Ballroom, which can accommodate up to 300 guests and can be divided into four function rooms named after notable islands in Northern Iloilo — Gigantes, Pan de Azucar, Agho, and Bantigue.
The hotel has a covered dipping pool and a fully equipped gym and massage facility.
Dining outlets include Belmont Café (108 seats), an all-day dining restaurant inspired by Ilonggo flavors, along with Zabana Bar (21 seats) and Float BarF(20 seats) for social gatherings and after-work meetups.
The hotel is also pursuing Green Hotel certification and has adopted sustainability initiatives such as refillable glass water bottles, water conservation measures, linen reuse programs, and energy-efficient technologies. It likewise supports Megaworld Hotels & Resorts’ Muslim-friendly hospitality program, part of the company’s broader effort to make its properties more inclusive for international and domestic travelers.
Offering an introductory rate of P4,000, it aims for a 40-80% occupancy rate with a potential to reach 100% during conventions.
More than 200 associates have been hired to operate the hotel, with around 90 percent coming from Iloilo and nearby communities, many of whom are Ilonggo hospitality professionals returning home after working elsewhere in the Philippines and abroad.
For Albiso, Belmont Hotel Iloilo represents more than a new hotel opening.
“It is our contribution to a city that continues to create opportunities for businesses, communities, travelers, and future generations,” she said.
Belmont Hotel Iloilo officially opens its doors on June 24, further reinforcing Iloilo’s growing stature as one of the Philippines’ premier regional tourism and MICE destinations.
