When SM Hotels & Conventions Corporation first announced in early 2025 that the Lake Wing of Taal Vista Hotel would temporarily close for a thoughtful renovation, we saw it as a smart move—one that preserves the hotel’s heritage while introducing modern comforts for today’s travelers. It promised a delicate balance.
Months later, that promise has taken form.
During our recent visit to the iconic Tagaytay property, the newly refreshed Lake Wing revealed how the historic hotel continues to evolve while maintaining the warmth generations of guests have come to love.
The renovation covers 133 rooms across several categories, including Deluxe, Premier, Deluxe Suites, and the Batangas Suite. The transformation is subtle yet noticeable. Soft color palettes, contemporary furnishings, and refined textures now create a calm and inviting atmosphere—one that complements Tagaytay’s breathtaking natural scenery.
What stood out immediately was how the redesign did not attempt to erase the character of the hotel. Instead, it enhanced it. The rooms feel modern yet familiar—an intentional approach emphasized from the very beginning of the renovation.
“The rooms at the Lake Wing have long been a favorite among our guests—especially families, corporate travelers, and those attending social events,” shared Ramon Makilan, General Manager of Taal Vista Hotel. “With its refreshed look, guests can expect an even more memorable stay.”
Premier Rooms now feature two queen beds and private balconies that open up to sweeping views of Taal Volcano and the lake—offering guests the very vista that has defined the hotel’s reputation for decades. For families and groups, the Two-Bedroom Deluxe Suites provide generous space and privacy, while the Batangas Suite elevates the experience with a separate living area, a bathtub, and panoramic views ideal for special celebrations.
Technology has also been seamlessly integrated into the guest experience. Smart in-room features, upgraded bathrooms, minibars, and 55-inch smart televisions enhance convenience without overwhelming the room’s relaxed aesthetic.
The Lake Wing’s location remains one of its strongest advantages. Guests are just steps away from the exclusive gate leading directly to Sky Ranch Tagaytay—allowing families to easily blend leisure, adventure, and relaxation during their stay.
Beyond the rooms, the hotel has also refreshed one of its most relaxing spaces—the Rain Spa. Now relocated closer to Taza Fresh Table and the scenic View Deck, the spa offers a tranquil retreat with six private treatment rooms and fourteen beds, making it ideal for couples, groups, or even spa parties.
Guests can choose from a range of therapies, including the signature “Awaken the Senses” massage—which we experienced as a welcome indulgence for the body’s need for relaxation. Other options include traditional hilot, herbal poultice treatments, gua sha facials, and soothing foot massages. The spa’s serene design and calming ambiance provide a welcome pause from the lively energy of Tagaytay.
For Taal Vista Hotel, these updates go beyond renovation—they mark a continuation of its long-standing legacy.
“By blending timeless heritage with modern sophistication, we aim to offer guests an experience that feels both refreshingly new and warmly familiar—one that reflects the enduring spirit of Taal Vista Hotel,” shared Peggy Angeles.
