Royal Caribbean’s Hero of the Seas unveils the next evolution of family vacations

Arriving August 2027 in Miami, the new Icon Class ship redefines family time with more ways to splash, adventure and dine

SINGAPORE, March 31, 2026 Royal Caribbean International introduces the next bold chapter in family vacations with Hero of the Seas, the fourth Icon Class ship set to debut in Miami in August 2027. Building on the success of the groundbreaking Icon Class, Hero combines the best of beach retreats, resort escapes and theme park thrills into one unforgettable experience for all ages.

With eight neighborhoods, Hero of the Seas raises the bar with the most pools at sea, a record-breaking 28 dining venues, new family adventures, immersive culinary experiences and next-level accommodations – including the three-story Ultimate Family Treehouse designed for multigenerational stays.

More ways to splash

Vacationers can dive into nine distinct pools – the most at sea – featuring family-friendly spaces and adults-only escapes. The Coconut Cove debuts as a Caribbean-inspired pool with in-water loungers and views of the lush Central Park neighborhood. The adults-only Hideaway expands to include two pools, the largest swim-up bar at sea and an in-water DJ booth. Meanwhile, the favorites like Swim & Tonic and Splashaway Bay return with enhanced features and more space for relaxation and play.

More adventure

Thrills reach new heights with experiences designed for the whole family: At Category 6, the largest waterpark at sea, guests can enjoy two new family raft slides, including the first funnel raft slide at sea; Crown’s Edge delivers a heart-pounding skywalk and zip line experience 154 feet above the ocean; Additional activities include the FlowRider surf simulator, Adrenaline Peak rock-climbing wall, mini-golf and multi-sport courts.

More dining

With 28 dining venues, Hero offers the most expansive culinary lineup in the fleet: Orleans Parish Supper Club blends live jazz with Cajun and Creole cuisine inspired by the French Quarter; Royal Railway – Hero Station delivers an immersive train-themed dining adventure; A new Surfside venue introduces hands-on cooking classes for all ages; The AquaDome Market returns with new concepts alongside favorites like Izumi, Giovanni’s Italian Kitchen & Wine Bar, Chops Grille, and Hooked Seafood; and the, Casual favorites include Basecamp, El Loco Fresh and Sorrento’s.

More family stays

Accommodations are designed with families in mind: The Ultimate Family Treehouse features three levels, a rooftop terrace, private whirlpool and dedicated teen space; Options include the Ultimate Family Townhouse, Surfside Family Suites and Family Infinite Ocean View Balconies; and, premium stays range from Royal Loft Suites to Sunset Suites for elevated comfort and views.

Signature Icon Class highlights return, including the vibrant Royal Promenade, the open-air Central Park with more than 30,500 real plants, and The Pearl, the world’s largest kinetic art sculpture. Guests can also enjoy world-class entertainment at the Royal Theater, AquaTheater and Absolute Zero ice arena.

Sailing from Miami, Hero of the Seas will offer 7-night Eastern and Western Caribbean itineraries, each featuring a stop at Perfect Day at CocoCay in The Bahamas. Destinations include Roatan, Cozumel, Costa Maya, Philipsburg and St. Thomas.

Bookings are now open on Royal Caribbean’s website, with early access available for Crown & Anchor Society members.
