Philippines’ biggest hotel operator, Megaworld Hotels & Resorts, has appointed Joe Fijardo as General Manager of Grand Westside Hotel – the largest hotel in the country.

Slated to open its doors this year, Grand Westside Hotel is a mega property with 1,530 rooms located in the latest Megaworld development – Westside City – in Parañaque. The 19-story, two-tower hotel will become the largest hotel development in the Philippines in terms of total room keys.

Aside from having the largest room inventory, the property will feature four dining outlets, indoor and outdoor event spaces, a lap pool, a fitness hub, and a spa.

With over 25 years of experience in hospitality under his belt, Grand Westside Hotel is the second hotel that Fijardo will open under MHR. He previously led the pre-opening team of Kingsford Hotel Manila delivering impressive commercial results and providing nearly 200 job opportunities to Filipino employees despite opening its doors amid the global pandemic in March 2021. 

Fijardo was named the “General Manager of the Year 2022” at Megaworld Hotels & Resorts Service Excellence Award for 2022. This award is a recognition of his exemplary leadership qualities and the positive impact he has made on the entire organization. In his latest appointment, Fijardo will oversee all aspects of the largest property in Westside City, while sharing his passion for excellence in hospitality. 

Before joining MHR, Fijardo was the General Manager of Fairfield by Marriott Belitung, the first international hotel on the island of Belitung in Indonesia. He was also the Director of Operations of Cebu City Marriott Hotel.
