If it is anywhere near as important to the industry as recognizing talent, creativity and fortitude, then hospitality players should watch out for the winners, or better yet, join the search for the 8th Virtus Awards 2022.
The theme for this year is “Breakthrough 2022″ and, true to its battlecry the event will showcase the endeavors of hotel sales and marketing professionals as they went through the difficulties while practicing their profession during the Covid-19 pandemic.
“It’s time to snap out of the shackles of the “safe only” discipline of the past years and focus on better, livelier options that hotels and resorts can offer to families, gatherings, for leisure and business,” said Rose Libongco, Virtus Awards Chair.
“HSMA will release the tension and tedious controls to serve new schemes, delights in pursuing fun, fantasy and new hopes to allow us to dream again,” Libongco added.
Banking on the unwavering optimism it upheld during the worst of the pandemic, the hospitality industry is ready to recast its stamina and innovation it applied in the past two years to leap into the recent easing of travel restrictions. With the theme “Breakthrough 2022”, this year’s awards will highlight the endeavors of hotel sales and marketing professionals to be released from the stringent protocols dictated by the global plight.
To underline the optimism, the media launch of “Breakthrough 2022” was held in conjunction with HSMA’s general membership meeting in a hybrid setting wherein face-to-face (HSMA’s first in two years) and virtual formats were followed.
Benjie Martinez, HSMA president, was equally ecstatic in his presentation. “With the downgrading of alert levels and acceptance of fully vaccinated domestic and foreign visitors in hotels and resorts across the country, guest room occupancy has improved, booked functions are increasing, and jobs are restored. With these breakthroughs, our hopes are high that we are truly on the road to recovery.”
The launch was graced by Asst. Secretary and concurrent OIC Undersecretary for Trade Promotions of the Philippine Department of Trade and Industry Ms Rosvi Gaetos who was the keynote speaker.
Ms. Gaetos related her experience in the planning, organization, on-site construction, and eventual participation of the Philippines in the six-month Dubai World Expo 2020.
This year’s awarding will be on October 25 while deadline for submissions of entries will be on August 31.
