Makati Shangri-La wins PMAP Employer of the Year Award

On Wednesday, July 17, 2019, at the Waterfront Hotel in Cebu City, Makati Shangri-La was awarded by the People Management Association of the Philippines (PMAP) as the 2019 Employer of the Year in the Philippines.

Makati Shangri-La is the first Hotel to have been nominated and to have received this recognition award by the PMAP which is the country’s premier HR professional association that helps institutions mold an enlightened, competent, socially responsible, and influential sector of people managers who can effectively participate in nation-building.

The PMAP Awards Program is an annual tradition established in 1977 with a vision to recognize outstanding organizations and individuals to help advance the people management profession in the country. The Employer of the Year (EOY) Award gives recognition to a company that satisfactorily fulfills its people management responsibilities, as demonstrated by its leadership, dynamism, professionalism, strategic thinking and implementation, continuous improvement in HR processes and programs, linkage of HR to business objectives, and employee focus. Now on its 43rd year, PMAP continues to give public honor to the most outstanding company for others to emulate its example.

Greg Findlay, General Manager of Makati Shangri-La, Manila, and Sheila Sepulveda, Shangri-La Group Assistant Vice President for Human Resources (Southeast Asia and Australasia) accepted the award presented by the PMAP Leaders and Board of Judges.

This year, from among sixty-seven companies that took part in the EOY competition, Makati Shangri-La, Manila stood out from a series of qualifying panel interviews by the board of judges and numerous focused group discussions with the hotel’s colleagues sharing workplace experience.

Ms. Sheila Marie Sepulveda, Assistant Vice President, Human Resources (Southeast Asia and Australasia) of Shangri-La Group warmly expressed, “We are deeply honored to receive this recognition from the PMAP. This is a testament of our passion in creating an engaging, meaningful, and purposeful experience for our colleagues.”
