Marriott International in the Philippines proudly announces a partnership with Save the Children Philippines, the world’s leading independent children’s organization. The announcement marks a new milestone in Marriott International as it continues to expand its advocacy in the Philippines. Recently, it launched the Marriott Worldwide Business Council, its community advocacy group in the country that will lead the charge of achieving Marriott’s sustainability objectives.
“A Dollar for Change”
Following the partnership, Marriott also unveils today the nationwide program “A Dollar for Change” that enables each guest of its four hotels to contribute PHP50 – the equivalent of a dollar – through their stay to fund initiatives for children in need.
Guests staying at Marriott Hotel Manila, Sheraton Manila, Marriott Hotel Clark and Courtyard by Marriott Iloilo are enabled to provide an automatic contribution through their folio. Contributions are optional.
“People often underestimate the power of a dollar. We noticed that our guests often forego their change, and so we developed a program whereby each dollar can actually drive real change within our communities,” says Bruce Winton, Business Council Chair and Cluster General Manager, Marriott International in the Philippines.
Winton continues: “Marriott International is always passionate to give back, and we are extremely pleased to find a partner at Save the Children Philippines. This January 2019, we launched the Marriott Worldwide Business Council locally to consolidate our fast-growing Philippine portfolio of hotels and provide a positive impact in our communities as a group. With four hotels upcoming in Cebu, Ortigas, Palawan, and Boracay, we look forward to a greater role of the Marriott Worldwide Business Council Philippines in driving our advocacy.”
Marriott International is the fastest growing hotel group in its category in the country. In the next two years, it will launch Sheraton Mactan, Cebu, Westin Sonata Ortigas Four Points by Sheraton, Puerto Princesa, and Marriott Boracay Gateway in Caticlan, bringing its Philippine portfolio to 8.
The Marriott Worldwide Business Council Philippines joins 100 other Business Councils worldwide including 13 in the Asia-Pacific Region. In 2016, Marriott Business Councils contributed U$30 million in cash and kind donations and almost 800,000 associate work hours.
Aside from the dollar program, the Marriott Worldwide Business Council Philippines will also have a run-for-a-cause event on August 25, 2019, registration is now open for 5km and 10km.
