Tourism Secretary Wanda Tulfo-Teo tendered her resignation yesterday and Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte accepted it, naming Bernadette Romulo-Puyat, as the new PDOT Secretary.
Known to her friends as “Berna”, Secretary Romulo-Puyat is the daughter of former Senator and Foreign Affairs Secretary Alberto Romulo and grand-niece of former UN Assembly President Carlos Romulo.
Upon her appointment, Romulo-Puyat worked as Undersecretary for Administration, Agri-Business and Marketing, and Regional Engagement in the Department of Agriculture. She has served in government for more than a decade since former President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo appointed her in 2005 as consultant in the Presidential Management Staff (PMS) before being asked to join the DA where she has stayed, holding various positions.
