DoubleDragon Properties Corporation Chairman Edgar “Injap” Sia II confirmed the development of two hotels under the Jinjiang Inn brand in Boracay and Cagayan de Oro starting September.
The planned hotel in Station 2 Boracay will have approximately 100 rooms. This expansion is part of DoubleDragon’s plan to build 5,000 hotel rooms (2,000 rooms under Jinjiang Inn and another 3,000 rooms under Hotel 101) by year 2020.
Hotel of Asia (HOA), the hospitality subsidiary of DoubleDragon and franchise holder for Jinjiang brand currently operates 866 hotel rooms from two Jinjiang Inns in Ortigas and Makati, Hotel 101 in the Manila Bay area, and Injap Tower Hotel in Iloilo City. Another 600-room Hotel 101 project is ongoing in Taguig.
Sia stated that the growing number of tourist arrivals from China is a good indicator to push on with the expansion. DOT reported that tourist arrivals from China in May surged 57.29% to 73,649 compared to the prior year.
“Jinjiang Inn is one of the largest hotel chains in China, and we are excited to further grow the brand to support the expected influx of Chinese guests and tourists to the Philippines,” Sia said.
Apart from Boracay and Cagayan de Oro, more key areas are looking at for expansion such as Quezon City, Cavite, Baguio City, Clark, Cebu City, Bacolod City, Dumaguete City, Bohol, Palawan, Davao City and Zamboanga City.
