United Hoteliers of the Philippines (UHP), a new and expanding group of hotel professionals, has formally inducted the new officers of its NCR chapter on March 21.

The induction ceremony has introduced the new officers, led by Happy Ballega as president, to UHP’s members, most of whom are mainly rank-and-file workers of the industry.

Since 2013, UHP has grown out of being a Facebook group to an organization with about 5,000 total members, said UHP national officers in an interview with Hospitality News in October last year. The association has also set up chapters in countries with large population of Filipino hotel and tourism workers like Qatar and UAE.

As its mission, UHP aims to “unite all hoteliers in the world in forming a new generation of peace-loving, skill-oriented and God-fearing members, with standards, values, leadership, and integrity shaped primarily for the welfare of hospitality industry.” Roldan Agustin, founder and chairman of UHP, revealed last year that the association will work on projects to widen the career opportunities of members.
