The MICHELIN Guide has officially landed in the Philippines, with its sights set on Manila and Cebu for its highly anticipated debut in 2026. As the expert Inspectors delve into the vibrant dining scene of the country, Filipino cuisine is poised to make a mark on the global culinary stage.

According to The MICHELIN Guide’s news release, expansion into the Philippines marks an exciting new chapter for the country’s dynamic culinary landscape. Today, the prestigious Guide announces its foray into the bustling Metro Manila and the vibrant city of Cebu, with plans to explore the surrounding areas of Manila, including Pampanga, Tagaytay, and Cavite.

With their trademark discretion and expertise, the anonymous MICHELIN Guide Inspectors have been carefully exploring these regions to uncover the most exceptional dining destinations. This highly anticipated selection will shine a spotlight on the Philippines’ talented chefs and dedicated teams, celebrating their passion, innovation, and deep respect for local flavors and traditions.

Gwendal Poullennec, International Director of the MICHELIN Guide, expresses excitement about the evolving Filipino culinary scene, noting the country’s rich culinary traditions and openness to global influences, “In Manila, we see young, talented chefs redefining Filipino cuisine with fresh perspectives; while Cebu, as a leading tourist destination, offers an impressive range of dining experiences with world-class hospitality.”

The arrival of the MICHELIN Guide is supported by the Philippines Department of Tourism, with Tourism Secretary Christina Garcia Frasco welcoming the Guide’s recognition of the country’s culinary heritage. Secretary Frasco invites travelers to experience the diverse flavors and exceptional creativity of Filipino cuisine, showcasing the nation’s vibrant culture and distinct cuisines.

The MICHELIN Guide follows a rigorous methodology based on five universal criteria to ensure consistency in its selection process, including the quality of ingredients, mastery of cooking techniques, harmony of flavors, personality of cuisine, and consistency over time and across the menu.

The Guide’s restaurant reviews are conveyed through a system of distinctions, including the renowned MICHELIN Stars awarded to restaurants offering exceptional culinary experiences. Alongside Star ratings, the Bib Gourmand category recognizes restaurants providing good quality food at a moderate price.

The full restaurant selection for the MICHELIN Guide Manila and Cebu 2026 will be unveiled at a special event in the last quarter of 2025, available exclusively in digital format on the Guide’s website, mobile applications, and social networks.
