The career seminar “Learning from the Masters” has already been a tradition for UP Society for Hotel and Restaurant Progress (SHARP).
It all started when the University of the Philippines’ Department of Hotel, Restaurant and Institution Management had “Professors for a Day”, an event where luminaries of the industry were invited to speak of their work experiences to HRIM students. The list of speakers included Tony Tancaktiong, Chit Juan and Bobby Horrigan, who were the first batch of graduates from the program, BS HRA.
UP SHARP will hold this year’s “Learning from the Masters: Seek, Survive, Succeed”, extending the invitation to HRM/HRIM majors, and those of related courses like Tourism, Business Administration, and Economics within the University of the Philippines-Diliman and in other universities.
The seminar will have the speakers shed some light on the challenges and demands that the hospitality, foodservice, and tourism industry are faced with, and impart some advice and efficient ways to cope with it. It will be held this November 22, from 8:30 am to 12:30 pm at the College of Science Auditorium, located at P. Velazquez St., UP Diliman, Quezon City.
UP SHARP will present chef Sau del Rosario (executive chef/owner, Food Garage), Ma. Christina Aquino (executive director for planning and development, Lyceum of the Philippines University Manila), Elvie Sanchez-Quiazon (general manager, Vivere Hotel), and chef Fernando Aracama (executive chef/owner, Aracama Manila), all BS HRA alumni of the university. –Press release
