Holding the champion’s cup, celebrating this milestone with the rest of the culinary arts team are Marriott Hotel Manila Executive Chef, “The BIG Chef” Meik Brammer and Newport World Resorts President and CEO Kingson Sian.

Newport World Resorts’ culinary powerhouse from its international hotel brands Marriott Hotel Manila, Hilton Manila, and Hotel Okura Manila made an epic showing at the 2023 Philippine Culinary Cup. The winning chefs came out with an impressive haul of 39 medals with the team from Marriott Hotel Manila taking home the ultimate recognition as the Overall Champion of the cup this year. The prestigious showcase of culinary prowess happened during the annual World Food Expo (WOFEX) held in Pasay City this August.

Returning to the top spot on the podium, Marriott Hotel Manila’s team, led by Executive Chef Meik Brammer, collected 20 accolades this year including the coveted gold at the Plant-based Diet Meal and Wedding Cake categories. Claiming the 2023 overall championship title adds another mark on the history book page as the team’s fourth time following past successful runs in 2015, 2016, and 2018.

At the helm of Hilton Manila’s culinary delegation to the cup is Executive Chef Ryan Hong. With Chef Hong’s guidance, the all-star team claimed 13 awards, 3 of which were gold medals for the Dream Team Challenge and the French Touch Challenge for both the  Savory and Pastry categories.

Rounding out this year’s epic showing for Newport World Resorts are the twin wins from Hotel Okura Manila. Chef Froilan Salido and Chef Vi Serrano each picked up a Bronze medal for their impressive US Pork and Plant-Based Dessert dishes, respectively.

Newport World Resorts opens up a world of culinary excellence with a long-list of signature restaurants where award-winning chefs shine in their element. Take Executive Chef Godfrey Laforteza’s Casa Buenas at the Newport Grand Wing for example. The exquisite enclave for Filipino-Spanish cruise is turning into a true haven of degustation with a seasonal menu that changes along with the seasons.

Moreover, nine outstanding restaurants from the premier lifestyle destination have been included in an exclusive dining guide earlier this year. Manila Marriott Hotel’s Cru and Marriott Cafe, Hilton Manila’s Hua Yuan Brasserie Chinoise, Hotel Okura Manila’s Yamazato, Sheraton Manila’s Oori and S Kitchen, as well as Wolfgang’s Steakhouse and Tao Yuan at the Newport Mall.
