Marriott Manila celebrates the most important festivity in the Chinese calendar, the Lunar New Year with a variety of auspicious treats from dining to accommodation.

Lunar New Year celebration would not be complete without the traditional Lion and Dragon Dance performance and more exciting activities, the catch? It’s all for free! Experience the lion and dragon dance performance by the Philippine Ling Nam Athletic Federation at the Marriott Hotel Main Lobby on January 24 at 1:30PM. It is considered as the most important part of the tradition where everyone sends their well wishes and spends time with their loved ones. More celebrations to follow at The Plaza, Second Floor Newport Mall from the Chinese FortuneTelling by Marites Allen on January 25 at 6:15 PM to a Wushu Performance, and Magic and Comedy by Jeffrey Tam on January 26 at 6PM.

Lucky Treats

Make 2020 your luckiest year yet with a traditional Chinese delicacy, Man Ho’s Tikoy enclosed in a Premium Red Box sealed with a gold stamp for only Php 1,388++ comes with two Koi Fish-shaped Tikoy (weighing 350g and 750g each) which is also available in a Gold Tin Can with a koi- and ingot-shaped tikoy (weighing 350g and 400g, respectively) for Php 888 nett only. According to Chinese belief, this sweet and sticky pastry also called as nian gao is pasted to the image of the Kitchen God in every household a week before the Lunar New Year. It is believed that by smearing tikoy to his mouth will keep his lips “sealed” and speak only “sweet” words to the Jade Emperor about the family he watches over.

Aside from tikoy, Man Ho is serving a luxurious and auspicious Lunar Set Menu for five persons which is an 8-course menu at Php 8,800++ with Assorted Barbecued Meat Combination, Mashed Wintermelon with Crabmeat Soup, Steamed Green Grouper with Light Soy Sauce, Braised Pork Ribs in Vinegar Sauce, Sauteed Seasonal Vegetable, Onglay Fried Rice, Fried Sesame Balls with Lotus Seed Paste, and Almond Lychee. There’s also a Lunar Set Menu which is a 10-course menu good for 10 persons at Php 29,988++ inclusive of Barbecued Meat Combination, Hot Prawn Salad, Mashed Wintermelon with Crabmeat Soup, Steamed Green Grouper with Light Soy Sauce, X.O. Scallop, Braised Twin Mushroom with Vegetable, Stuffed Chicken, Crab Vermicelli, Fried Sesame Balls with Lotus Seed Paste, and Almond Lychee. Lastly, is the lavish Prosperity Set Menu for 12 persons at Php 42,800++ for a 9-course menu that includes a Prosperity Toss Salad, Suckling Pig Combination, Bird’s Nest with Seafood Soup, Steamed Tiger Garoupa with Light Soy Sauce, Stuffed Chicken, Steamed Crab with X.O. Sauce, Hot Glutinous Ball with Ginger, Sweet Tikoy, and inclusive of a Poonchoi Deluxe which can also be upgraded to Poonchoi Premium for an additional Php 5,000++. A Lunar New Year trademark, Poon Choi literally means “Chinese casserole in basin” and signifies affluence and prosperity. This meticulously layered bowl is filled with the most-priced ingredients varying from seafood, meat, and vegetables.
