SM Hotels and Conventions Corp. (SMHCC) continues to grow its portfolio with the announcement of two major developments in Clark, Pampanga – the expansion of Park Inn by Radisson Clark with 100 additional rooms and the construction of SMX Convention Center Clark, both opening in Q1 2020.
“SMHCC’s various developments in Pampanga is in support of the government’s thrust in promoting the province as the country’s next major destination for meetings, incentives, conventions and exhibitions (MICE) events. The opening of the SMX Convention Center Clark and the expansion of the Park Inn by Radisson Clark will strengthen SMHCC’s niche in the MICE industry and will reinforce SMX Convention Center as the country’s premier events venue,” said SM Hotels and Convention Corporation Executive Vice President Peggy Angeles.
SMX Convention Center Clark will be the second stand-alone convention center after SMX Manila and the eighth convention center in the SMHCC portfolio. SMX Convention Center Clark will have a gross leasable space of more than 4,000 sq. m. with two (2) levels for the event venues and a mezzanine floor for offices. To be constructed adjacent to the Park Inn by Radisson Clark extension it will have three trade halls, three function rooms, complemented by 14 smaller meeting rooms. Similar to its flagship property in Manila, SMX Convention Center Clark’s facilities such as bathroom faucets, lighting system and escalators will have eco-friendly features. Conveniently, a connecting bridgeway from the SM City Clark will provide ease of access to and from the SMX Convention Center Clark or Park Inn by Radisson Clark.
SMX Convention Center VP-General Manager Walid Wafik remarks, “SMX is known as a premier events venue ideal for conventions, meetings and other types of gatherings with branches in key cities across the country. The SMX Convention Center Clark will cater to the increasing demand for more venues for MICE events being held in the Northern Luzon area. Instead of the clients travelling all the way from Northern Luzon to Manila to hold their big conventions and other events, we are bringing SMX Convention Center closer to them”.
Park Inn by Radisson Clark, on the other hand, will add another 100 rooms to its current inventory of 150 rooms. Designed for the millennials, Park Inn by Radisson is a friendly, fresh, vibrant and uncomplicated brand that focuses on delivering the modern essentials of a great hotel experience. “We believe that the developments currently being undertaken in the province of Pampanga in general and in Clark Economic Zone in particular will further drive the growth in domestic and international visitors for both business and leisure. With the destination poised to become the next major business and commercial hub north of Manila, we want to properly position our hotel as it happens,” add Park Inn by Radisson Clark Hotel Manager Ann Olalo.
