Department of Tourism (DoT) Undersecretary Alma Rita Jimenez lauded the Hotel Sales & Marketing Association (HSMA), citing the organization’s role as a “critical and collaborative partner of the Department of Tourism.”
Speaking before exhibitors and tourism industry leaders at the launch of the first Great Room Sale, Usec. Jimenez expressed the DoT’s appreciation for initiatives coming from the hospitality accommodation sector that encourages business and continued growth.
After acknowledging that the domestic market is the one that props up the country’s tourism industry, the official encouraged HSMA to make The Great Room Sale an annual event not only in Manila but in key provincial areas saying that “there is vast potential to be tapped with more than 70 million Filipinos traveling all over the country at some point in time to see destinations, visit their families, relatives and friends.”
The Great Room Sale, held May 30 -31, was HSMA’s first sale promotion collaboration where more than 40 participating hotels and resorts from around the Philippines offered affordable staycation and resort getaway deals.
