As a continuing effort to be the leader in corporate social responsibility, Marriott Manila launched a Hospitality Training Center in the Philippine School for the Deaf during its annual Brigada Eskwela participation. This development is part of the long-term partnership of the hotel and school to achieve impactful and sustainable results for the kids with disabilities.

The two-story building where Marriott Manila has been involved in the reconstruction, provided a venue for the new housekeeping course for senior high students. In polishing the interiors, 60 associates volunteered for the final retouches on painting and cleaning the exteriors. The hotel donated furniture for the mock-up room such as rollaway beds, beddings, sofas and television set. They also conducted bed making demonstration and have scheduled other housekeeping lessons in the coming months.

This outreach program is an integral part of their annual Associate Appreciation Week. Cluster General Manager Bruce Winton emphasizes, “It is important to be fully engaged in our community in creating a much more meaningful long-term impact.” This shows how Marriott redefines hospitality – going beyond their premises and being a positive influence to its community.
