Marriott Hotel Manila’s top-of-the-game performance is reflected by the back-to-back global recognitions of its General Manager Bruce Winton and Director of Finance Rosanna Lee. Given by Marriott International to its top performing associates, Winton was awarded as 2017 General Manager of the Year in Asia Pacific, while Lee bagged the Mustang Award for exemplary contributions on resolving obstacles and innovating services.
Both awards are established by Marriott International to recognize outstanding efforts of leaders epitomizing success. This is part of the company’s core values of “Putting People First” and “Pursuing Excellence.” With over three decades in the hotel industry, Winton has an unparalleled leadership and experience. He is a homegrown professional who worked in 10 Marriott properties in 3 different continents. In his 5 years as general manager at Marriott Manila, the hotel successfully expanded to be a MICE destination hotel with the opening of Marriott Grand Ballroom – the grandest events venue in the Philippines, and a 228-room West Wing to complement the ballroom. Last year, he assumed the huge responsibility of being Cluster General Manager of the soon-to-open Courtyard Iloilo and Sheraton Manila. Being the main man of Marriott in the country is a critical role, but Winton is undoubtedly performing beyond expectations to deserve this award more than anyone.
Similar to Winton, Lee’s leadership is instrumental in the growth of the hotel in the recent years. She was able to manage crucial financial aspect of a thriving property and achieve positive revenue results. She is also now the Cluster Director for Marriott properties in the Philippines, balancing a huge spreadsheet of assets and responsibilities. These impressive accolades reflect as well the entire Marriott Manila team that both awardees humbly agree. General Manager Winton proudly acclaims, “Our success is a team effort. We have brilliant associates who always deliver and that is very key in every organization.”
